Pete's Clipboard Part 1
Pete's Clipboard Part 1

Good Morning, Good day or Good Evening...

As we near the beginning of Season 2009 I would like to express on behalf of all the coaching and support staff our thanks to all the players for their efforts during a very enjoyable pre-season.

Results so far have been pleasing as we look toward our Charity Shield fixture against Hamilton Olympic at Wanderers Oval on March 29th, 2009.There have been many changes throughout the football side of the club to go with the changes in structure of the competition.

Ian Milne and Steve Waters take the reins of the U/18's with high expectations of a very talented group of young men.

After the departure of James Pascoe to the Jets Youth the Club has once again managed to secure the very experienced services of Chris Turner at the Club. Chris will take charge of the U/23's and will be an enormous asset to the Club giving guidance and standard setting to a youthful group of players. Those Magic faithful will remember Chris as the coach who brought the reserve grade Major Premiership to Magic in 2007.

There have been many movements within the senior player ranks. 2008 saw the departure of Benn Lane, Glen Cooper, Doug West and the promotion of Joel Wood and Peter Haynes to the Newcastle Jets.

Incoming players include Scott Petit, Jay Richley, Todd Cawley, Tom Russell, Anastasios Christodoulides, Taiki Nakayama, Adrian Karakolevski, and Greg Asquith. We also have Ben Martin and Simon Mooney rejoining us from their Newcastle Jets Youth team commitments.  The side has a much more youthful look about it this season but far less experienced.

This season will present many exciting challenges that we as coaches are very much looking to tackle head on as we attempt to defend our titles won in an historic 2008.

Cheers Peter McGuinness
