Pete's Clipboard Part 4
Good Morning, Good Day, or Good Evening...
A tough road trip to Bear country faced us for our Round
3 fixture. A fixture that for as long as I have been involved in
local football has always been one of the
toughest. After last seasons clashes with Weston we knew that this
clash would be just as tough. After losing Adrian Karakolevski for what would appear
to be for 12 weeks through a shoulder dislocation we had to shuffle the
pack somewhat which resulted in the inclusion of Simon Mooney and moving
Scott Pettit further forward.
The first half was a little frustrating as we failed to
find the same fluency as a week earlier. However we were good value for our halftime lead of 2
goals to the good. The first was a nice tap in from Ben Martin after a
deflected John Bennis shot and the second a cool finish from the edge of the
box by Brad Waters after some nice lead-up work down the right by Simon
Mooney. The first half also saw us lose our skipper after
breaking his nose in a head clash.
The second half really flattened out however we still
created chances through Scott Pettit and Alex
Palozzi. Unfortunatley both were ruled out for offside, which
surprised many. On a day which was all about a result I am very pleased
with the state of the side. We have shown that when we need to turn it on we can. We
have also shown that when we need to battle we
can. These two traits are vital to any side which wishes to
compete and compete well in the NBN league.
Special mention to David Baillie and Josh Piddington for
a great start to the season highlighted by both giving fantastic
performances on the weekend. We look forward to the next challenge at hand the visiting Valentine Phoenix.
All the Best
