First Grade

In brief, a poor first half, three nil down at the break and a much improved second half, we actually out scored Hamilton two one.  Outstanding second half and two goals to Peter Haynes are positives to be taken out of the game.

After a very impressive pre season I have tried to access what we are doing wrong, my thoughts are that lady luck has deserted us.  First up a nil all draw with Weston, for those that were at the game we could have led by four in the first fifteen minutes, convert them and the game is dead and buried.  Round two saw us take on Toronto, again if we capitalised on the early pressure the game again could have been dead and buried before half time.  Round three against Highfields was not one of our better performances but in saying that if we compare goal-scoring opportunities, we were on par with Highfields.

Reserve Grade - Broadmeadow Magic 0 – 5 Hamilton Olympic

Reserve Grade met Olympic in a top of the table clash with both teams in goal scoring form after big wins in previous weeks.  The first half ended nil all with Broadmeadows midfield seemingly on top although the tight passing game of recent weeks was not as evident and the long ball was being used more frequently.  The second half was a mirror of the first until the 15 minute mark when an unforced error saw Olympic take the lead.  The game was still in the balance until the 27th minute when another unfortunate error saw the score at 2-0 and the team structure began to falter.  Olympic scored three quick goals without ever appearing to have the best of Magic and a final scoreline of 5-0.  The boys were naturally disappointed with their performance but supporters can expect them to take revenge on Adamstown this week.
